The formation of the Bird Keepers Association was borne out of the frustrations which from experience many bird keepers have and that was to create an environment where members, breeders and those who are merely not just interested in keeping birds but watching their antics either in the wild or in the aviary and birdroom of others come together in a friendly & sharing manner to explore the richness of the bird keeping hobby.

The Bird Keepers Association web site will bring together all those interested in bird keeping irrespective of their geographical location and one of the aims of the Association is to ensure that the other frustration which we are sure is felt by all bird keepers and that is the fragmented composition of the market place when trying to purchase birds, equipment and food.

Although initiated within the geographical region of the borough of Southend on Sea the aims of Bird Keepers Association will appeal to bird keepers nationwide.

The aims of the Bird Keepers Association will foster relationships between bird keepers to create opportunities for bird keepers to meet at BKA’s regular meetings to exchange information, to attract new entrants to the hobby, to share experiences, to produce case studies, to successfully market surplus birds to other members or members of the public, to swap birds with other members and finally to generate a platform for free advice on breeding, feeding and to maintain healthy birds.
