Sunday 27th September 2015 arrived with a certain amount of trepidation. When organising events such as the BKA bird sale show one can put in all the necessary hours and effort to publicise the event and to contact our supporters and exhibitors but until the day arrives one never knows whether illness or accidents will alter the status quo. But we needn’t have worried. At 8.30am the exhibitors started to arrive and by the time 10am arrived all exhibitors has set up their birds and equipment and were enjoying that moment which is the ‘lull before the storm’ with a relaxing cup of tea and a delicious bacon roll!!
One important ingredient is the help and assistance from our volunteers because without them life would be difficult indeed. So at this stage I must thank Peter Coleing who was floor manager for the day, my twin brother Ray and Liam Ambrose who between them managed the flow of visitors, Moya Waddel and Kyla Thornton who were stalwarts in the kitchen – every bacon roll delivered with a smile! and not forgetting my colleague/founder member Len March who planned the layouts and booked in the exhibitors. Supporters and members too many to mention here – they know who they are – all passionate about the BKA’s success because all are aware that the hobby is richer for the effort put in to organise the coming together of new and old acquaintances and the exchange and sale of birds.
