P1010463P1010471With the clocks going back one hour last night I must admit it made it easier to arrive at the Great Blakenham Village Hall, Mill Lane, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP6 ONJ at 9.30am to see the vast array of Australian finches both on show and for sale. The condition of the birds on show made it very tempting to improve ones own stock of Gouldians, Star Finches, Diamond Fire Tails, Bichenos, Fire Finches, Parson Finches and of course the inevitable Bengalese.

Dave Harris the well respected Chairman of the Australian Finch Society gave his judgement of the best in show and his job was not made easy by the remarkable condition of the birds on show.

Mick Howlett and his wife Pat were as usual working hard to deliver additional funds to the club by tirelessly meeting the demands for equipment and seed from its members and not resting until all raffle tickets were sold!

Martin McGrath acting sales steward and not forgetting David Brown the club’s illustrious Chairman who accepted his fate and had his head down all day resolving the vast amount of paperwork necessary at such events and controlling the issue of the rosettes!!. Where would any club be without such people?

With Margo and hubby serving teas and delicious bacon rolls a very entertaining and absorbing day was had by all
