I am delighted to confirm I have my first ever brood of Gouldian chicks. The parents which are black head purple breasts species unfortunately abandoned their eggs (for some reason?). When I checked the nest there were 6 cold eggs but I was fortunate that my pair of Bengalese had just started laying their first egg so I replaced their first egg with 6 Gouldian eggs. I marked them with a marker pen to identify them so I could discard any subsequent new Bengalese egg !!
To my delight 4 eggs hatched and all babies will be weaned by 25/11. Sad that I had to resort to fostering but cannot deny the delight of seeing my first ever baby Gouldians!!
