It seems that the current strain of Avian Flu
To quote:
“A Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed”
has arrived compelling the APHA to install a mandatory housing protection zone throughout England, thereby making it impossible for the BKA to hold its 20th November meeting!
To quote:
“The new rules come into force at one minute past midnight on Monday, 7 November – giving owners one week to prepare”
The Bird Keepers Association (BKA) has been operating a marketing & meeting facility for bird keepers with four trade & bird sale days each year since November 2014 and now due to Avian Flu our meeting on 20/11 will need to be postponed until 19/2 !
However on a positive note the BKA has booked its 2023 meeting dates for 19th February, 23rd April, 17th September & 19th November so all at the BKA look forward to continuing the camaraderie at future meetings & to providing a service to its members.
I am sure I am speaking for all our avicultural friends when offering our very best of wishes & sadness to a BKA member who has had their aviary bred Cockatiels, Canaries, Bourkes & Bengalese culled along with their rare breeds of ducks etc. Another good reason to postpone the 20/11 sale and show the respect deserved of our member.
